Summer Novels, My Kitty Boys and My Hair!

My big goal is to finish The Goddess of Vengeance Wore Pink Galoshes this summer.  I know a few of us are trying to write novels this summer, and I thought it might be fun to keep up on each other's progress and encourage each other in this ambitious endeavor!

If you're interested, let me know in the comments what you're writing and what your goal is (mine is to finish before Labor Day, and I have about 70-80k to write to get there!)  I'll have the challenge posted in my sidebar, so we can check in on each other's blogs throughout the summer. I'd love it if you posted too, and you're welcome to use my little badge or make one of your own.  And, of course, if you have any other ideas for how to help each other out through the challenge, please post them below!

Another set of prospective kitty parents visited Buster and Bonzai today. It went very well - although there was an unfortunate moment when I was trying to hold Bonzai (our very shy kitty) and he freaked. I now have some unfortunate deep scratches on my arm from him using it as a launchpad... oh well. These new folks seem so nice though, and found our kitties very cute, sweet and fluffy. So hopefully these boys will have a new home come July!

Last but not least,  pics of my new haircut as promised... although bear in mind, this is with me washing and styling it, and I'm a lazy styler. If it takes more than 5 minutes, it's not happening. So it doesn't look quite like it did fresh from the salon... I quite like it though. It's OK if I just let it air dry to my natural waves or I can straighten it after with the iron. I might still go with the short cut from my style post at some point, but I like the bangs and layers a lot too.
Yes, I was sitting on my front step taking photos of myself for the light. Pretty sure the neighbors think I'm someone's narcissistic teenager, not the homeowner. Because who does that? (Bloggers, that's who!)

Aw! Great photo of you - love the hair!

The kitties are so cute. I'm sure they'll find a great new home.

And best of luck with finishing the MS!

Love the hair! And the kitty's.

And I think I'm in on the challenge. Give me a couple days to regroup and get settled in to summer with Monster Baby and I'll have you up on the blog! Great idea.

I love your new hairstyle - and avatar!!! You look so different - it really suits you! yay!!!

Oh good luck with finding a forever home for the very sweet and lovely Buster and Bonzai!! Bonzai just panicked - he didn't mean to leave you all scratched! Hope you are ok!! They look so lovely!! Big, big awwwww!!

I love your idea of working to finish your novel by Labor Day! When is Labor Day?

I'm not so much writing one as editing and re-working a completed one - would that count? But I'm very tentative about it all - I need to jack up my confidence levels about this particular MS - oh we'll see! But GOOD LUCK with yours and I love your badge!! Wonderful!!

p.s. Have I said how I really really like the title of your novel???

Take care
x

Love the hair! And I hope the couple takes the kitties. :-)

Count me in this summer! I'm aiming for either June 21 or July 15. :-) I have about 35 or 40k left, but I'm a slow writer...

Thanks Talli!

Glad to hear it, Piedmont! No rush.

Aw, thanks Old Kitty. Bonzai is doing fine, and so am I, after his panic attack. lol. Bad on me for trying to hold an angst-filled kitty! The folks who visited said they would contact the SPCA to see how to handle the adoption process, though, so... I think it was all worthwhile!

I'm glad you like the title of my novel... I had the concept for the novel for a long time, but it didn't start to come together until I had a flash of inspiration for the title! You're welcome into our club to edit your novel over the summer too... for me editing is tougher than writing, and I am definitely not an expert, but any encouragement we can provide along the way we will!

Thanks Summer! Glad to have you in the club. :)

Thanks for responding to my post on clotheslines. Just a simple topic, and yet I got comments from people that related to it. It was fun.

I too love the title of your book. A title is so important. I've picked a book off a library shelf just because of the title.

Since I seem to be the "grandmother" of my blogger followers (age-wise, that is) and therefore don't have as much time left in my life to write as you do, I think this impetus to write a novel by labor day is intriguing. I'm tempted to joing your "club"! I have a book (a memoir) that I've started outlining; have some scenes already written. Just have to get going....

Your haircut is SO pretty! I'm with you, though -- if it takes more than 5 minutes to style, I don't bother. ;)

And love the babies (kitties). Black and white cats are my favorite.

I'm with you on the summer novel challenge. Hold on, have to do a bit of math here... I have 22K more to write (I'm writing MG, so it's a smaller word count), and I'd also like to finish before Labor Day.

You are so cute!!! Great hair!!!

The kitties are super cute, my kittie has freaked a few times when I've tried to hold her. Calico's are so skiddish!!! Now she's quietly laying by my feet fast asleep, it's adorable!

Good luck with your MS~!!

I'd love to jump in on the challenge... but I have to finish my revisions first (probably 2 weeks). Having the novel writing to look forward to will spur me on to completion.

Oh, and your hair looks very cute, as do the kitties. :)

I really like your hair, too. I'll have to think about the challenge, but it sounds like something I'd like to do. :)

Ann, I also will pick a book up for a closer look based off a snappy title or interesting cover art; I know there's that whole thing about "Don't judge a book by its cover...", but you have to start somewhere! :) Hope you join in with the club, I think it'll be a fun and exciting summer. :)

Thanks Shelley, and glad you're in!

Jen, the cats are always good when they're sleeping, right? lol. I'm in Augusta for business (traveled yesterday) and I already miss them!

Ruth, glad to hear it! Good luck finishing your revisions!

Thanks Bree!

Sarahjayne, there's no rush... we'll be here all summer. :)

I wish you luck in finishing your novel. I'm trying to find an agent, after having finished my novel, FRENCH QUARTER NOCTURNE.

It is quite a challenge we writers set for ourselves, isn't it?
