Today's going to be a short roundup, as it's been a long week. I just finished a big presentation at work, which went swimmingly, but the build-up was crazy. But I do want to hit a few highlights!

Here's an intriguing article on what it takes to become a writer these days, and how unlikely it is. Depressing? Noooo... It's actually upbeat in its artistic sentiment, at least.
I'm not sure how to feel about Page To Fame from weBooks. Here's how it works: you can review and rate other writer's summaries and ealy pages (which has to be educational), or you can for $5 submit your own. There's a series of rounds; if your pages survive the first round of fellow readers, they are looked at by agents for a second round with more book requested, etc etc. Theoretically, these agents might want to buy your book, but somehow I feel skeptical about that part of it. It's the educational aspect I'm intrigued by.
Anyone want to sign up for Page to Fame with me and play literary agent?
If you live in the D.C. metro area, which I think is unlikely for most of my readers, but hey... the Writer's Center in Bethesda, MD is doing Agent Idol on April 18th. You provide your query and first three pages, and the agents judge your work. You can even win neat prizes, like free workshops. I've never done anything with The Writer's Center before, especially since it's a lengthy drive through D.C., but I think it sounds like an incredible resource I can't wait to check out!
Once again, I apologize for the brevity here. But now that my "Squee! I survived the workday!" rush has faded, I am headed to my warm bed with either a novel or the laptop and some Doctor Who...

Thanks for the links. Hope you get to read your novel:)
"A solitary, poverty-inducing, soul-scorching voyage whose destination is unknown and unknowable..."? I think I've been camping there. What was it called? Oh yeah--being a literature major. :-)
I have been seeming to have the days where its like YAY its over quite a bit and can't wait to get home and take some pictures to get myself out of the workday "funk" if you know what i mean. Looking forward to continue reading your stuff!
Thanks Christine! I have the debut YA novel "Beautiful Creatures", which I'm dying to read (and started on last night). I'm especially intrigued because the authors, Garcia and Stohl, built a cult following for their first book prior to its release AND had a movie deal before the book ever came out. I'm intrigued by how they could do that, and also very excited to read their book!
lol, Summer! I took a lot of lit classes in college, but I went to an engineering school, so it wasn't too bad.
Kimberly, thanks! I'm glad to have found your blog as well. It makes me a little jealous though... I have no photog skills whatsoever.
DAMN IT! I wish I lived in DC. I would totally go to this. Nothing good ever happens in my area, EVER!
Jenny, I'm really excited... I can't believe it's free, too. Good stuff.
OMG so cool! I am DEFINITELY going to look into idol. I just got nervous typing that :) Are you definitely doing it??
I am definitely going, Sara... It's going to be a late night for me, since it goes until 11pm in Bethesda, but I'm so excited for it (also, mildly terrified, lol)!
Do it! Do it! :)
Page to Fame, I like the concept!
OK I signed up!!
oh crap. I signed up, but I just reread it and it says no YA fiction. So :( BOOOOOOOO
Aww! I didn't even notice that, Sara. That sucks! I wonder why no YA novels?
Terresa, I started rating on PageToFame yesterday. It seems neat... I might submit my first page, but it's really interesting just seeing and rating other first pages.
