The Honest Scrap Blog Award

Much thanks to Christine  and Lynsdey for the Honest Scrap Blog Award! Be sure to check out both Christine's blog and Lyndsey's, Dangerous With a Pen. These are both newer blogs that I love!

I have to list ten honest things about myself! But first, of course, I'm passing this award on to some bloggers that I want to know ten new things about!

Shelley at the brand-new Stories in the Ordinary (isn't that a great title?)
Melissa at Chasing the Dream

So my ten honest things:

1.  I cry at SPCA commercials every.single.time. I also donate to and volunteer for the SPCA, and I get a little intense about treatment of animals.

2. I have broken nine bones in my feet (unpleasant and unrecommended).

3. I didn't know MJ's last name the first time I stayed at his apartment, and I checked it on the mailbox on the way out the next morning. It's the only time I've ever done something like that... obviously it worked out, though!

4. Usually, I am insanely competitive. I even have to be the best at board games (unless it's Trivial Pursuit Pop Culture, at which I accept I am hopeless). But I don't feel like publishing is competitive at all, for some reason -- I genuinely hope all my fellow bloggers succeed and we celebrate our successes together! :)

5. I am secretly proud of being a natural blond as an adult, even though I realize this is positively ridiculous - I have no control over my hair color.

6. I've always loved flying and started earning my private pilot's license in high school, but ran out of money and time when my dad got sick. Someday, I look forward to picking it back up again!

7. My mother almost named me Cassiopia instead of Guinevere.

8. I hated pink as a kid, but it became my favorite color once I joined the Marine Corps -- just a little act of rebellion against the olive-drab and brown sameness of everything. I even wear rose-tinted sunglasses.

9.  I've been to all seven continents.

10. My undergrad degree is in History, but I also minored in Law and Physics.

Congrats on the award! And I'm with you on number one. That SPCA commercial with Sarah McLachlan's "Angel" in the background kills me every time. It first came out when I was pregnant and my husband was on alert to change the station whenever it started playing, otherwise I was an inconsolable mess.

I'm with you and Roni on the SPCA commercial - it kills me! I'm glad your mom named you Guinevere instead of Cassiopia - I love the name Guinevere. Congrats on the award. :-)

I work for an animal shelter, so the SPCA commercials really gut me, because I know and have seen so much worse at my own job. I'm with Roni--the Sarah McLachlan "Angel" one...oh gosh. My husband is on channel-change alert too!

Thanks for the award! Nicole actually gave it to me yesterday too, so I've got my ten things up already.

My husband and I had been dating for over a year already when he made a comment one day about my "beautiful brown eyes..." My eyes are as GREEN as grass! Ha!

I want to visit all seven continents in my lifetime. I have three under my belt: North America, Europe, Africa. Incidently, my husband is French. Did you know the French schools teach children that there are FIVE continents ?? It's something we (playfully) argue about all the time, especially when our kids were learning the continents in school here in the States.

Aww Guinevere, thank you so much for my very first award!! Congrats for receiving it, too! Your 10 things were fun to read (I especially love that you were almost named Cassiopia -- wow!)

Thanks again, I'll have to think of my list and post sometime soon. :)

Wow. Those ten things were very interesting. I don't think I have enough good material for five things! Thanks for the blog. It was great:)

Congrats on the award! I always love reading little things about people!!!

Are your relieved your name is Guinevere (which I adore!)

I am a sucker for the SPCA!

I couldn't pronounce my husbands name when I first met him, I waited for others to take a crack at it before I did!!!

Congrats on the award. You deserve it! I enjoyed reading your list. (I can quite relate to #6!) I loved pink as a kid/teenager and now I've been sick of it for 20 years. LOL

Roni, Shannon, Summer, Tiffany, I'm glad I'm not the only one who loses it at that commercial! I'm glad it's so effectively heartbreaking, though. Whatever convinces people to help hurting and neglected animals!

Summer, that is too funny about your husband... and congrats about the award (from multiple sources!)

Nicole, hmmm, I can see why some would say five continents. It does make a certain amount of sense! I just always find it funny the "facts" we don't agree on internationally!

You're welcome, Shelley! And thank God my Mom was talked out of Cassopia -- learning how to spell Guinevere in kindergarten was tough enough!

Roxy and Ellen, I debated whether or not some of these items were TOO interesting (like the one about MJ) but hey, we're all friends here. :p

Jen, I couldn't pronounce my husband's last name for the longest time when we started dating! It's nothing that elaborate, but it's not exactly phonetic (and I am very, very fond of my phonics). I took his name, so it's a good thing I finally figured it out!

Erin - lol, I know most little girls love pink (which is why I hated it as a kid, I've always been a little ornery). I'm curious to see what my daughters are like someday -- if they'll be like me, tomboys who do an eventual 180, or girlie girls who love pink and princesses!
