Today's Contest/Mini Wednesday Weekly

It's too early for me to choose a contest winner (have to leave for work at 645 and I know my limits). When I get back I'll use Randomizer to select a winner and announce the results. I expect  to post around 6-7pm.
The Magicians: A Novel
In the meantime, why not check out my other blog, La Dolce Vita La Vita Dura, and my post about jolie laide?

In lieu of the usual Wednesday Weekly Update, I'll just say this:
    Hour I First Believed
  • The Goddess of Vengeance Wore Pink Galoshes is at 75,126 words
  • Things have been a bit hectic at work these past few days, but I finished Lev Grossman's The Magicians. Fantastic book (coming of age, contemporary-fantasy, funny and brilliant). The Magician King is coming out summer 2011 and I'm stoked.
  • I'm currently reading Wally Lamb's The Hour I First Believed.
  • I'm stoked to try my hand at some non-fiction when I finish up the current WIP!
  • I'm being a slacker on reading blogs (again) thanks to aforementioned long days (outside! in Augusta GA!) this week. I'm just drained. But Thursday should be a short day for me, so I expect to be making the rounds again then!
What's going on in your reading/writing life today?

Nothing is happening in my writing/reading right now...I'm on vacation with the Husband and Kid in Maine. I'd hoped to do some writing up here, but the fam won't let me alone. They want to DO stuff...with me. *sigh*

I'll be back tonight...I wanna win! :)

Love,
Lola

Hey stranger!!! I love winning... lets see if the randomizer will love me, hehe!!

I just finished up the ARC copy of Matched and I'm working on Sophie Jordans Firelight and loving it!

The writing world has been dry but on Friday my Muse came back and since then I've rounded out around 25,000 words for my new story! Revisions suck so I'm thankful for the break!

Over 75,000 words!! Yay!!!

Good luck with your WIP!

That's great that you want to try non-fiction too. Do you know on what topic? Well good for you!

Have a great rest of the day!

Take care

I'm beating my head against my keyboard and getting my wordcount up that way. I'm determined to finish this beast in the next two weeks.

Awesome job on Vengeance!

Well, you've jsut left me in the dust with your WIP. The summer writing challenge wasn't really a challenge for you, good gawd woman, you're just mad.

I'm glad you're almost done though. I can't wait for you to get it out to query and get an agent so it can be pubbed and I can read it.

Lola, those silly families! My husband is a big distraction... I can't imagine how much tougher writing gets once you have kids!

Jen, glad you're reading some good books! I'm also engrossed in Wally Lamb's book right now. I just love that feeling!

Old Kitty, there are soo many things I'd like to learn about (that's what really appeals to me about writing non-fiction), but mostly, I think I want to write science and women's issues. I found a neat women's magazine (sirensmag.com) that I want to try and write for!

Summer, me too! I'm hoping to finish this in the next two weeks I think... I was actually going to try and finish before I left Georgia, but I realized I was just slowly and painfully hacking out words and the writing. was. making. me. miserable. And I was like, "Dude, I already wrote 15k this weekend... I'm going to the movies." lol. So I have a bit to go still.

Kathryn, I've never heard of that book but I'll have to check it out! 3k a week is awesome - that's a great steady pace to your word count (I always seem to be feast-or-famine for inspiration, but I'm hoping to grow into a more steady and sedate pace!).

Piedmont, thank you so much for your sweet words! I am really excited to finish Pink Galoshes and get it into revisions (wha! revisions are still my weak point, but I need to master it!). And you're right... I do feel like a mad woman when it comes to this book... but not always in a good way. lol!
